Earnings Results: Activision Blizzard’s stock drops as U.K. block of Microsoft deal overshadows earnings beat

Activision Blizzard Inc.’s results topped Wall Street expectations Wednesday, but its shares were dragged down after U.K. regulators announced they would block the videogame publisher’s acquisition by Microsoft Corp.

Activision ATVI posted net income of $740 million, or 93 cents a share, for the quarter, up from $395 million, or 50 cents a share, in the year-earlier period.
