With smoke enveloping the Northeastern United States, flights have been delayed in some of the country’s busiest airports. On Wednesday, LaGuardia Airport, Newark Liberty International Airport and Philadelphia International Airport all experienced departure and arrival delays of up to two hours.

Here’s the status on flight delays for Thursday, June 8, 2023:
LaGuardia Airport
The FAA had paused flights heading to LGA airport earlier Thursday morning. As of 7:38 a.m., the FAA had “slowed” flights to the airport, according to a release.
Flights bound for LGA were being held for an average of 54 minutes, according to FlightAware, a flight-tracking website.

Newark Liberty International Airport
At 9:20 a.m., the FAA said that all nationwide flights to Newark Airport were being delayed. The airport was seeing delays of an average of 34 minutes on Thursday morning, according to FlightAware.
Philadelphia International Airport
Flights to Philadelphia have resumed, the FAA announced. The airport had seen a pause in flights from airports in the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and Ohio due to low visibility earlier Thursday morning.
