The numbers: The second of two readings of the consumer sentiment survey in February fell to 76.9 from 79.6 earlier in the month, the University of Michigan said Friday.
The consumer-sentiment survey reveals how Americans feel about their own finances as well as the broader economy.
Sentiment is still well below prepandemic levels of around 100, however.
Market reaction: The Dow Jones Industrial Average
DJIA,
and S&P 500
SPX,
were mixed in Friday trades.
