The Russian government has authored a list over 200 products that will fall under a temporary export ban, following Western sanctions and the global backlash to its invasion of Ukraine more than two weeks ago.
The list includes “technological, telecommunication and medical equipment, vehicles, agricultural machinery, electric equipment, as well as railway cars and locomotives, containers, turbines, metal and stone cutting machines, video displays, projectors, consoles and switchboards,” the government announced Thursday in a statement on its website.
“This measure is necessary to maintain stability on the Russian market,” it said, adding that the ban will be in effect until the end of 2022.
The export of these goods has been suspended to all countries, excluding member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), Abkhazia and South Ossetia. Several types of timber and related products will also be prohibited from exporting to “states that are undertaking hostile actions against Russia, in accordance with the approved list.”
There was no mention of a ban on exports of any energy products. The U.S. this week announced a ban on Russian energy, amid a global backlash that has seen a massive list of corporations, including Goldman Sachs

cut business ties with the country.

Meanwhile, President Joe Biden is on Friday expected to announce the revocation of “most favored nation” status for Russia.
