: U.S. property tax collections edged down in Q3, report finds

State and local governments collected $707.6 billion in property taxes in the four quarters ending Q3 2021, a slight downturn from the prior four-quarter period, according to an analysis published Tuesday.

That report, from the National Association of Home Builders, analyzes Census data to show that amount represents a 0.5% quarterly decline, only the second such decrease since 2012. It came after tax receipts surged 14.3% since Q2 2020, in line with a housing market that was booming even before the COVID pandemic.
